About

Main Idea

ANNOISY is short for “annoying noises”. The idea is simple: fighting annoying noises in your neighborhood socially.
ANNOISY is a mashup of social platforms enabling users to point the source of noise and measure it. We have created a special Sound Analyzing System to automate recognition of noise type and intensity (dB) from the recorded file. After mapping the noise, user can share the point to social networks and start a Fight to draw attention of the community. We have a mobile application to download for most phones to make the map pointing and sound recording easy and smooth.
We are also providing an Area Creation tool for organizations and universities to manage noise pollution in their campuses.

Philosophy

We believe that mapping the problem and sharing it with your local community is the best way to fight against noise pollution.

The main points of our philosophy are:

  • Protect the humanity from noise pollution using social influence,
  • Create qualitative data on urban areas for various usage,
  • Make organizations/corporation go green (Green Widget badge),
  • Data should be free and accessible to everyone (Open API),
  • We think that being quiet is as much important as being clean,
  • And eventually - "Good neighbors keep their noise to themselves."

Green future

We demand stress-free future

Most of the time we concentrate on Air, Water, Litter and Soil pollution but forget about Noise pollution hitting us with stress and damaging our physiological and psychological health. Other sources of noise pollution are car alarms, emergency service sirens, barking dogs, appliances, power tools, lighting hum, audio entertainment systems, loudspeakers, and noisy people.

The word "noise" comes from the Latin word “nausea” meaning seasickness. Indeed, noise pollution can cause seasickness, annoyance and aggression, hypertension, high stress levels, tinnitus, hearing loss, sleep disturbances, and other harmful effects.

With this initiative we are demanding a stress-free future and offering a technological solution to manage noise pollution in urban areas and make people or companies responsible for annoying noise.

Noise Pollution

Noise pollution is excessive, displeasing human, animal or machine-created environmental noise that disrupts the activity or balance of human or animal life.

We distinguish the following categories of annoying noises:

  •   Traffic (cars, trains)
  •   Neighborhood (domestic)
  •   Aircrafts
  •   Industrial (commercial)
  •   Loud music

Together we can make a real difference.

Corporate Responsibility

Our concept of Corporate Social Responsibility

ANNOISY promotes positive corporate social responsibility together with the responsibility to sustain  human community and environment. We have to create a special environmental monitoring system for responsible organizations to monitor the noise pollution they create in the local community. Our concepts of CSR are:

  • A completely new relationship between corporations, communities and ecosystems;
  • Respect for the dignity of every person, for workers' right to have a clean and open working place and any person' right to be protected from coporations actions being involved directly or indirectly;
  • Support for a sustainable system of production and a more equitable system for the distribution and environmental services;
  • Preservation and protection of the environment for present and future generations;
  • Affirmation of indigenous peoples' right to full participation in the business decisions which pertain to their ancestral lands and their way of life;
  • Commitment to the principle that every worker has the right of access to health care, accessible and affordable medicines.

Area Assessment

Corporate assessment of campus or work for noise should be carried out by a competent person and should:

  • identify the sources of possible noise mentioned by workers or locals,
    determine who is at risk,
  • work out the daily personal noise exposure levels of employees,
  • note other noise risks, such as exposure to occasional but very loud noises,
  • assess whether current protective measures taken are sufficient,
  • decide what more can be done to provide hearing protection or control noise levels,
  • determine your priorities for action and remove points from the Annoisy Map (only if area manager)
